PRESENTATION

Get up – Stand up – Free up

Who are you when you stand up in front of people?

What do you risk when you face an audience?

Most people are expected to face an audience at some time in their lives. It may be presenting work to clients, or colleagues; socially meeting new people; making a speech at a family event; being interviewed for a new job. Whatever the reason, if you avoid these situations, you limit your life. It is your birthright to be able to speak up and express your point of view to others.

Having to make a speech or presentation unnerves most of us and yet some people seem to be able to do it with no problem. If you ask them afterwards how they managed to look so confident they will often say they were not feeling confident. They somehow covered up their feelings and projected a different self.

This workshop will explore how to do this and will endeavour to answer the two questions above. It is a skill that can be learned like any other. The anxiety can be dealt with through practice. It just takes the first step. We will explore ways of being at ease while being the centre of attention. Non-verbal communication, relaxation and voice-work are integral to this course, as well as planning and structuring speeches/presentations and practice in performing.
